Year 3

Welcome to Year 3

A very warm welcome to Carrington Junior School and we hope you have the best 4 years here with us.

Each term in Year 3 will have a topic that will run through the whole term and each week will have a theme within that topic. Therefore, if you were able to give your children any out of school experiences to do with this topic, we would love to hear about it!

For the Spring Term topics are split up by the half term. First we will be exploring the different types of pollution and how we can be living in a more sustainable way. The second half term will be focused on Volcanoes and Earthquakes.
In Maths we are looking at measuring the perimeter of 2d shapes, fractions and telling the time. This will also be alongside a constant focus on the 4 number operations and times tables. We will be improving our editing skills in English so that we are able to produce high quality pieces of writing with lots of detail in.

Please let us know if you have any queries or need anything over the upcoming year, as we are more than happy to help and support you. For your convenience, we will look to upload homework tasks and other important information that you will need on this page.
Homework

English Homework
For the Spring Term we are going to give a list of all the homework for the first half term (Attached Below). All of these pieces will need to be handed in on the last week of the half term where we can spend an afternoon admiring and showing off our homework. Therefore, each child can do it when they have time over the half term, either all as soon as they get it, one a week or saving it all till the last minute! We hope that this way it will take some of the pressure off of the homework and allow children to spend time on creating pieces and therefore enjoy more what they do.

Maths Homework
We have a range of maths resources available, but typically we will be setting MyMaths homework which is related to what the children are learning about in the classroom and reinforces their understanding. Alternatively they can also spend time on Mathletics - there is a school leaderboard for this where children can win points for their houses.
