Carrington School is fortunate in having an active and vibrant PTA which jointly supports the life and work of both the Junior and Infant schools through fundraising events and initiatives.
PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association.
We are a registered charity set up to raise funds for both the Infant and Junior schools to purchase educational materials and equipment, pay for excursions and to run school events helping parents/carers to get to know each other.
Everyone with a child/guardian at the school is automatically a member of the PTA. We have a committee to run the charity, and class representatives to help with coordinating activities.
We’re very lucky to also have many other regular volunteers who readily support us. None of our activities would be possible without the whole school’s support - whether you organise or help at an event, bake a cake or tidy up the school hall after a disco!
We rely on help from parents/carers throughout the year to support our events otherwise what we do just wouldn’t be possible. Not only do our schools receive the much needed extra funds but most importantly we all have fun taking part and so do all the children.
As well as fundraising, our activities also focus on building and maintaining our school community through running fun events for the children and their families. What the school spends our funds on is decided between the school and PTA. Funds are typically spent on the ‘extras’ that are not provided in the school’s budget but will enrich our children’s educational experiences. We also like to spend the money you help us raise quickly. We make sure your children benefit from your donations and help.
Over recent years some examples of PTA funding include:
● Forest school areas
● Many of the reading books all year groups have access to
● Sports & PE equipment
● Coaches for outings
● In School experiences
● School discos
● Summer fair
● Village fireworks and bonfire
● Happy’s Circus
● Legoland trip
● Bake sales
● Christmas stalls
● And more fun fundraisers throughout the year!
JOIN CLASS LIST AND KEEP UP-TO-DATE!
We put all the latest news and event dates & information up on Classlist. It’s a free, safe, secure online community for the school where you can post questions and message other parents in your child’s class or year group.
Classlist also enables you to share your contact details with other parents in the same year group. You have full control over your privacy settings and can also join and use Classlist without sharing your contact details.
Interested in getting involved?
We welcome any help from parents and carers. Every little helps, so baking a cake, selling raffle tickets or helping at an event (just a few examples) is invaluable. None of our events can run without your help. It's great fun and a good way to make new friends! Whether it’s just an hour after school or in your spare time, every bit counts and as the saying goes more hands make light work!

If you're interested in getting more involved, we always welcome new faces at our regular meetings and any ideas or suggestions you may have about what we do. So please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
