Peer Mentor Training with Mind Bucks
Tuesday 21st November, 2023
Earlier this year, a number of Year 6 Pupils applied for the important role of School Peer Mentors.
The teachers explained to the children what the role entails and the skills and quality necessary to become a Peer Mentor. The pupils interested then wrote an application letter explaining why they would like to become a Peer Mentor, and why they think they would be suitable for the role.
The Mind Bucks Children and Young People’s team came into school to deliver a full day of training to the successful applicants; enabling them to become Peer Mentors to fellow students. This training includes mental health awareness and key aspects of their role such as their responsibilities, communication, listening skills and safeguarding.
You can find out more about the programme on the Mind website: https://www.bucksmind.org.uk/peer-support-in-schools/
A huge thank you to Mind Bucks for the training, and congratulations to our Peer Mentor Team who are very motivated to start their new role in school.
